Victory Part 2

Hot on the heals of the webby award we got the kind of win we really treasure, the CEO of a global company stealing our words...

It's not everything we wanted, (their recycling policy still sucks, and they haven't committed to launching a 'green' product)  but it does bring Apple up to speed with the rest of the industry and crucially seems to be the start of genuine competition between HP, Apple and Dell about who is the greenest. Now comes the tricky bit, as we try to hold the industry to it's promises long enough for change to embed itself in the supply chain.

Update : Bruce Sterling is a fan, cool...

Victory!

OK, it's not an actual campaign victory but our GreenMyApple site has just picked up a webby award in the activism category. Oddly we'd expected to get the 'people's vote' award, but in the end it was the judges who picked us. Aside from providing boring things like the content management system and other backend bits and bobs my contribution to this campaign was the 'Hug Your Mac' idea which if nothing else seems to have given many people a convenient outlet for their technological fetishes.

In the meantime Apple's AGM is on the 10th of the month and we're hoping for good news, even if it will almost certainly be packaged in a way that makes it look like we had nothing to do with it...
