Update from Madrid
I´ve been in Madrid since Saturday, staying with the lovely ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif)
metame and leathellin who have been excellent hosts. Fine food, fine conversation and a fine knowledge of what to do when one is in Madrid.
For the first couple of days that consisted mostly of wandering around slowly and looking at the parks. Madrid has absolutely fantastic parks, the only ones I can think of which come close are the botanical gardens in the centre of Sydney. They though don´t contain such a good array of statues, musicians, ice cream vendors and art exhibitions. Indeed the vast number of exhibitions going on in Madrid is one of the best features of the city I think. Having a culture predisposed to sitting outside and wandering about slowly the Spanish seem to have decided to fill the place up with artworks to make the experience even more pleasant - a fine idea.
