Japanese Animation
Some time ago someone (possibly
leathellin) suggested that Greenpeace work with Studio Ghibli to produce some animations to win hearts and minds in Japan. I'd love to say that that conversation led to this short animation, but it didn't. However the idea of working with Japanese animators was such a good one that we'd already started on it, proof that if great minds think alike leathellin presumably has one.
So here from Koji Yammamura is 'Man and Whale'.
In other whaling related news this years meeting of the International Whaling Commission in Alaska went much better than last years. In broad terms the good guys are back on top, but since you need a 75% majority at the IWC to achieve anything significant there's still a long way to go. Perhaps most importantly we were able to overturn last years St Kitts Declaration, which passed the 2006 meeting by one vote and contained outright lies, and some extremely bad science.
Hmm, which reminds me of something that happened to a friend of mine last year in St Kitts. Worth a read.
